About
Who we are
The people behind Lathe Software have spent years building and running custom web applications for businesses: line-of-business apps, customer and partner portals, booking and scheduling systems, internal tools, and integrations with legacy databases and third-party APIs. Lathe Software packages that work as a subscription with a price you can predict.
The name is a nod to the workshop. A lathe holds the work steady and turns rough stock into a precise, repeatable part. That is the standard we hold ourselves to: the same disciplined process, every project, with no drama in between.
Principles
Four rules shape every engagement.
Prototype before engineering
You click through the app before anyone writes production code. Changes are cheapest before engineering starts, so that is where we make most of them.
Ship in small steps
Every 1 to 3 weeks you get testable software. Small releases are easier to review, easier to verify, and easier to roll back.
You own everything
The code, the cloud account, the data, and the identity configuration are in your name. There is nothing to hand over at the end because it was yours from the start.
Verify, then deploy
Every change is linted and fully type-checked before it can merge, then verified by QA before it ships. Deployment is one click once staging passes.
Why a subscription
A fixed bid pays for a guess made before anyone understands the problem. It rewards padding and punishes change. A subscription priced by screen count aligns the incentive: we are paid to keep your app useful month after month, and adding a screen is a simple line item.
It also keeps maintenance from becoming an afterthought. Hosting, patching, backups, and the quarterly audit are in the monthly fee, so the app you launch is still healthy a year later.
No surprises
You know the price before discovery starts. You see the prototype before engineering starts. You see working software every few weeks. You get a recommended action and a cost estimate before any urgent work starts. And you get a written audit every quarter, with every finding ranked and backed by evidence.
